A good teacher should motivate, support, advise and develop a student to achieve their maximum potential.

I have taught at a number of private and state schools around Dorset for the last two years. I can teach pupils individually or in groups but one-to-one tuition is the preferred option due to the nature of drumming.

I have completed the 'Enhanced Disclosure' process and possess the necessary documentation. I also have Public Liability Insurance through my membership to the Wessex region of the Musicians Union.

Please email or call me to discuss any of the options below here.

Drum Lessons:

I can bring an acoustic or electronic drum kit to your school if required.  The electronic kit is virtually silent and is heard by the pupil through headphones.

Lesson times are 20 minutes or 30 minutes as requested but I need to teach for a minimum of two hours at any school.  Pupils can choose weekly or fortnightly lessons to suit their particular budgets.

I invoice pupils or parents directly to remove any administrative overhead to your school.

Each pupil receives a personal drum book with all the required tuition material enclosed.  The book is set out for left or right handed pupils as necessary and is added to as each pupil develops.

I can assist pupils through Guildhall/Trinity Drum Set Grades 1 to 8 and also Rock School Grades.

Teaching Aids:

I have developed a range of teaching aids for pupils learning the drums which has proved very popular and easy to use.  Go to my DRUMacus page for more details. Pupils can choose to purchase one of these aids or use more traditional methods of written notation or tabs.

Drum Kits:

Whilst I provide a drum kit to teach on, many schools choose to purchase a drum kit for their pupils to use when I am not there.  This allows them to form a school band, play individually at assembly or just practice on their own.  Go to my Drum Kits page for more details.

Drum Workshops:

I can visit your school and provide workshops for pupils wishing to have fun with drumming and rhythm.  I have taught workgroups of up to 24 pupils as young as seven years old and shown them how to work in teams to merge simple patterns into a more complex overall rhythm.

I can also bring an electronic configuration to your school and provide a workshop where existing drummers can explore electronic drums, sample triggering and musical composition.

I am happy to work with your existing drum and percussion teachers if this is required.
